Just because you have employees working from home, doesn’t mean you shouldn't continue to focus on morale and a sense of connection among employees.

5 (Alcohol-Free) Employee Engagement Activities for Virtual Teams
1. Trivia Night
Invite teams to a virtual call where one person is the designated “host.” The host will ask questions, Jeopardy-style, of each contestant, awarding points for correct answers and allowing others to steal. Have a final question worth all the marbles and award a prize (or prizes). Prize ideas could include new headphones, gift cards, business books, access to online learning opportunities, etc.
2. Chess Tournament
Online chess rooms are aplenty. Ask for willing participants, schedule them to play each other, and keep track of winners using a March Madness-style bracket.
And it doesn’t have to just be chess. Many video games have online gaming options where employees could play against each other online. A Mario Kart tourney could be just as much fun as chess.
3. Dance Lessons
Okay, so this is a little less competitive and a little more cooperative, but that won’t change the spirit much.
The internet is filled with free resources, especially dance training videos. Send an email asking for interested parties, give dance options, and fill a “class.” Then, share the video training link, get on a group video, and learn the dance together. Once we’re all out of this craziness, you can show your officemates in real life. Plus, dancing produces feel-good endorphins — and we could all use more of that right now.
4. Ignite Talks
The beauty of being home is that we’ll get glimpses of who are co-workers really are, the good, the bad, and the ugly. We’ll see babies and hear barking dogs. We’ll get to know spouses who are also working from home. We’ll recognize that we all have a giant pile of unsorted mail in the background too.
Aside from learning all those personal details, challenge officemates and co-workers to teach everyone something new. 5. "What’s In Your House” Scavenger Hunt
Who doesn’t love a good scavenger hunt?
Instead of virtual happy hours or conference calls, offer up something a little different by challenging employees to one-up each other through a scavenger hunt of random items in their homes.
Gather everyone into a single video call and present them with finding challenging, strange, or wacky items in their homes. Keep a tally sheet of who’s got the most and award a prize at the end.
