Mitchell Brown, born in 1976, Los Angeles: analog synths, magnetic tape/loops, electric organ, amplified objects, contact microphones, percussion, drumset, found objects, didgeridoo, toys, acoustic spaces, field recordings, analog/digital signal processing, improvisation within premeditated sound fields of meditation, etc... sounds are made daily, alone or with dear friends, at home or in and out of town. Full support is given to the thought that folk music is organized sound made by the people for the people, sans the need to be marketed. It can involve ideas passed around within a community, it can involve new or old modes of thinking about how to make or play any instrument. It can create new contexts for these musics to exist. It doesn't need to leave the house, it doesn't need to be recorded, it doesn't all sound like Joan Baez.
