Photo of Out at SeaThe Ambassador Theater is delighted to present its inaugural production, the D.C. premiere of Polish playwright Sławomir Mrożek’s one-act play Out at Sea, directed by Hanna Bondarewska. Three men find themselves on a makeshift raft in the middle of the ocean. With hunger setting in and no hope of rescue, they discuss the limited available sources of sustenance. The hilarious conversation that ensues explores the folly of human nature in all its comedy and pathos, as well as the way that class, politics, and Darwinian natural selection intrude upon even the smallest of communities. This short Polish masterpiece is a must-see for lovers of the absurd or anyone who enjoys an unconventional laugh. Out at Sea is produced with the collaboration of the Embassy of Poland and is the first of the Ambassador Theater’s repertory of plays from around the world which bring the color of D.C.’s international community to life on stage.Previews: June 8 and 9, 8 p.m. Pay what you can
