Sucks- my brother-in-law got thrown through a glass door on July 24 by three knuckle head bouncers. They had been to the AC Milan soccer game and ordered a beer at Max's right before last call (which is before 1:30 am) and then were harassed to get out of the bar. As they were trying to pay (by the way, no one had been drinking previously) they started a scuffle with "R" and broke his nose and slammed his head into the door. He ended up in an ambulance and needed 40 stiches. Nice. The manager was Frank - maybe Frank should have good to college so he could have learned how to manage goons! This isn't the end of the story!

Who doesn't love Max's? You can get almost any beer you've ever had and ever wanted again.

We got there at the tail end, but belgian beer is high in alcohol, tasty, and in this instance, cheap. Some dude kept randomly walking up and talking to us with long awkward pauses before he started. After this, we all simultaneously said he looked familiar, so either we all knew him or he is some minor celebrity whom none of us recognized.

Great trivia night!

I went here for Trivia Night! Luckily, this was on a Tuesday, which is much less fratty than a Friday or Saturday.

I greeted the bouncer with a smile and "Hello," to which I received a frown and signal for ID. Not a great first impression. The same attitude came from the bar staff as well. They seemed to sense I was an 'outsider', even though I live just a block away.

Look buddy, I'm not the type of person who gets loaded and throws chairs around, so acknowledging my presence would be a nice token of appreciation for my patronage.

Sigh...

I don't know why you would, but don't get the hummus. It comes with confusingly fried pita bread.
