I am not so saddened now. I viewed the cocktail menu and would like to go to check them out. The strawberry basil mojito and the thin mint look like they are to die for.

Back in 2002 and earlier, this used to be Cafe Louie's which was a very very cool hip jazz lounge with a downstairs and upstairs. One could walk the upstairs catwalk around front in the darkened room as if they were above live theater stage and hear the music wafting up... If I remember correctly, there used to be shelves teaming with books to encourage the cafe ambiance. I saw one of my teachers play in a jazz band at the lounge back in Louie's day. When this was to become Ixia, I was very saddened. The owner of Ixia also owns the Paper Moon Diner. I have known people who worked for her for years.

I've been meaning to go here for quite some time. The inside of this place is nothing short of spectacular. It feels like you're entering the set of some fantastic utopian-future movie.

The drinks are also very unique. One of the "bartenders" is a chemistry student at Hopkins whose chief ingredient in his cocktails is liquid nitrogen. I had a Magic Mojito. Very tasty.

very cool place to take someone to impress. the nitro bar on weekends (the bartender fashions drinks, like glassless shots, using liquid nitrogen) is unlike anything else in baltimore. ixia is not so impressive on my wallet, however. go on a payday weekend.
