I'll preface this review by saying I'm giving it a thumbs up because it was Anya's birthday, and it's hard not to have a great time with 10 Russians and 2 Lebanese.
Havana Club is best described as confused. Located above Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, it wants to be an upscale cigar lounge, and it half succeeds. The club is quite well outfitted, with images of Cuba adorning the walls. But that's about where the Cuban vibe ends, unfortunately.
Flat screen TVs filled most walls, with ESPN playing throughout the night. The music (some guy picking songs from a laptop) was simply current pop and hip-hop tracks -- no Arturo Sandoval or other Cuban greats were played. The dance floor is small and fenced off for no real reason, although it was packed most of the night. And to make matters worst, I was served one of the worst mojitos I've ever had.
So was it a bad place? No. But it surely didn't live up to the "classy Cuban cigar lounge and nightclub" ambience I was expecting. It was more like a Baltimore club with a Cuban theme.
