Club Charles

Photo of Club Charles

Across from the seminal Charles Theater, Club Charles has a very hip clientele. It has an extremely dark interior, is supposedly haunted, and requires you to be buzzed in. It doesn't get much cooler than that.

Don't miss the acrobatic routine above the bar on the weekends and the sloe gin fizzes the bartenders make.

It may be hipster, but it was cool before the hipster thing, and it will be cool after that's over.

Love the place! One of my favorites in Baltimore. I like the vibe, the bartenders are nice, and when the Jukebox is working, it's full of 90's surprises!

Club Charles is a great way to meet people via person, phone numbers on walls, and by randomly hugging people. Its a shame though that the best jukebox in town is broken. Decor is delightful and bartenders awesome.

So, this review is through a drunken lens. Club Charles is great. Really, my friends are great. And I haven't been to bed yet, so it is still my birthday.

Never a dull moment at the Club Charles. I'm very excited about the smoking ban here in Baltimore, because it will make places like Club Charles and Brewer's Art - places that non-smokers usually steer clear of - local hot spots. Not that they aren't already!

Club Charles is always a good time. It's usually packed full of people, but not obnoxiously so. The music is quiet enough that you can actually talk to your friends. Not a venue for dancing, but a great place to go with a group and drink the night away. My only complaint is that you reek of smoke after leaving, but that's just about any venue in Baltimore until the first of the year.

I always bump into someone that I know here. The bartenders are really cool, and they hook up the whipped cream on the Irish coffee. Sometimes they even set out chips and salsa or olives at the bar just for something to munch on. The jukebox is one of the best in town. The people that go there tend to be very open to talking. I like how the red lighting puts a nice warm veil on everyone's face.

I went next door and saw The Headwounds at Zodiac. There's a new bartender with large breasts.
